In the county cup semi final, Starlets were up against a tough Humberstone side who came to Meadows determined to show what a good team they really are. The game got underway with both teams finding it hard to break down the other. Starlets made the breakthrough when Kim Hurst scored at the second attempt after some good work. It did not take long for Humberstone to equalise when a free kick was put into Starlets' penalty box and the defence stood still to allow the striker to nip in to head the ball before Naomi Connor could get to it. A very soft goal from Starlets point of view. After a very lengthy delay while an ambulance was called for a Humberstone player, it was decided to switch pitches and the whole second half was played with both teams struggling to create many clear chances.
Full time- Starlets 1-1 Humberstone.
The match went in to extra time and Starlets finally showed that they can play some football. Kim Hurst got her second to be followed by a goal from April Munden which had a hint of off-side about it. Kim Hurst scored her hat-trick goal and Katie Connor rounded it off with a great left foot shot. Some great indivdual performances from Naomi, Abbey, Ella, Aimee S and particulary Kim sent the Starlets into the County Cup Final.
Final score- Starlets 5-1 Humberstone (aet)
