Sunday 10th September 2023 2nd league game of the Season sees us away at Asfordby Amateurs. 14 girls available for todays fixture. Jodie in goal, Defenders – Ruby, Hannah, Kaylee, Ella (C), Madison and Elise , Midfield – Nellie, Jess, Tilly, Evie and Ellie our striker today. Rebecca who was also available for the game was unfortunately not able to play due to a referee decision about a piercing. First Half – We were straight into the game with the will to win. We played some lovely plays, working as a team and then the Goals started coming… With great assists from the team and through balls Ellie and Evie did great picking them up and scoring. the team worked really well and used each other to gain the space they needed. HT 6-0 Second Half – After the girls had a rest and ate some oranges, they went back on Buzzing (oranges must have had a kick! :D) We carried on playing as a team but Asfordby Amateurs came back fighting and managed to score after a scuffle in the box. Some more great football which led to Evie running the whole length of the pitch and smashing the ball into the back of the goal. Another great run, this time from Ruby who went on to score a great goal! We then conceded with a great goal from Asfordby. Throughout the whole game Tilly was pushing to get a goal but Asfordbys keeper just not letting it happen.  Final 10 minutes – Tilly took a cracking high shot over the keeper and finally managed to get the goal she had been waiting for and deserved!!! Final Score – Oadby & Wigston FC 9 – Asfordby Amateurs 2 Thank you to Asfordby Amateurs for your hospitality and letting us play on a very nice pitch. You gave us a good fight and we look forward to playing you again. Player of the match – This was a very difficult decision as all players deserved it today but after speaking to Wayne we have decided to give this to Ellie!!! To play in a different position than usual today, you took it as your own and did an amazing job, working with your team mates and played some composed football.

Oadby & Wigston U16 v Hinckley Borough U16 03/09/2023

Sunday 3rd September 2023 Oadby & Wigston U16 had their first League game of the season against Hinckley Borough FC at our home ground. We had 12 players today with Jodie in goal, at the back we had Jess, Rebecca, Kaylee, Ella and faye followed by Nellie playing a defensive attacking position. Midfield we had Mabel (C), Ellie, Tilly and Evie Followed by Reese up front. Jess took on 2 roles today playing right back and a right Winger. Today’s task i gave them was to play as a team and give 100% as soon as the whistle is blown and they did just that. First Half – With a good battle between both teams from the start, we started to get into the game supporting and playing as a team. we had some great chances going forward which unfortunately didnt give us the goal until Reese received the ball, kept control as she was moving forward and passed it to her left which Ellie was ready and placed it into the back of the net. We then went on having a few more chances which didn’t pay off.   Second half – second half was an even better battle form both teams with Hinckley trying to get that equaliser. Our newest defenders Rebecca, Kaylee and Jess played amazingly and along with our other defenders Ella and Faye they struggled to get past, even on the occasions when they took a shot our goalkeeper was ready to make sure it wasn’t going in! We had lots more chances from our midfield’s and striker but unfortunately we couldn’t get another goal. Final score: oadby & Wigston 1 – Hinckley Borough 0 Thank you to Hinckley Borough U16 for a challenging first league game. You have well supportive and fair players within your team and your goalkeeper did an amazing job! We look forward to playing you again. Player of the match – Faye You played brilliantly today and supported everyone that needed you. You read the game really well and always gave your max effort in the game. Our Substitutions were Elise and Madison. First Half – This was a difficult half and seemed to take us a while to get into the game, then B&W scored a great goal. The girls kept on the fight with Mabel Scoring with a great strike which helped pick our heads back up. There was a good battle from both teams having many chances of a goal before the half time whistle. score 1-1 Second Half – After a great team talk from myself and the Captain Mabel we went out with good spirits. We started to play like a team with some great passes and set ups, some great chances that kept going wide of the goal Then B&W scored a goal over the top of Hannah. They went on to score another goal which made the score 1-3… Again it was a very good battle between both teams until Mabel had a go from the 18 yard box and scored! Not long after that a foul to Ellie inside the box happened. PENALTY! Evie Took a great penalty placing it in the bottom right corner. This made the score 3-3. The Girls from both teams was pushing themselves to gain that goal before the referee blew the whistle and then Reese receives the ball from Evie and tries to keep possession of the ball from the defenders just on the edge of the 6 yard box and manages to find the gap to smash the ball into the goal! Final Score: Oadby & Wigston 4 – Blaby & Whetstone 3 A Great effort from both teams and we look forward to playing them again.
