O&W U13 Vixens vs Daventry Panthers 28/09/25

The girls made the long trip to Daventry on Sunday to take on the Panthers, and they returned home with smiles all round after a fantastic team performance. A new change of formation was trialled, and it immediately looked to suit the girls’ style of play. They showed great determination and fight across all areas of the pitch, combining strong defending with some really exciting attacking football. The goals were spread around the team, with Isla, Sisi, Amber and Paris all finding the back of the net – a real positive with players scoring from different positions within the formation. Another goal came courtesy of an opposition own goal, forced by Ronnie’s relentless pressure and dangerous cross into the box. The team produced some excellent passages of play, moving the ball quickly and creating plenty of chances, while at the back they stood firm and dealt confidently with any Daventry counter-attacks. That resilience and teamwork meant the girls secured their first clean sheet of the season, a credit to the whole squad’s effort and concentration. πŸ’ͺ Charlotte’s tireless performance in central midfield didn’t go unnoticed, as she was deservedly awarded Parents’ Player of the Match. πŸ† Overall, it was a dominant and well-rounded display from the girls, who should be very proud of their progress and their team spirit. πŸ‘

Today saw us travel to Ashby Ivanhoe FC for an early kickoff. This was the first time we have played Ashby so it was nice to play against new players and meet new coaches The game was scrappy from start to finish, the passing not quite as good as usual but the girls all dug deep and gave 100% throughout the match. Some very good saves from our keeper and clinical finishing on a very hard uneven pitch. O&W U13 Vixens vs Heather Juniors Hawkettes 21/09/25

This week the Vixens welcomed newly promoted Heather Juniors Hawkettes, who had skipped straight from Silver to Platinum after an unbeaten season. It promised to be a tough contest, and it lived up to expectations. Unlike recent weeks, the Vixens started strongly, pressing from the first whistle in a new, more attacking formation. They dominated possession and created plenty of chances, but struggled to finish. Zay opened the scoring with a composed strike from Lyra’s cross, before two lapses at the back saw the visitors lead 1-2 at half-time. The Vixens kept pushing after the break, and Sisi levelled with a tidy finish following battling play from Ronnie. The decisive goal came late on when Ronnie’s perfectly weighted through-ball found Paris, who coolly chipped the keeper for 3-2 victory. πŸ† Maisie B was deservedly named Player of the Match for her brilliant defensive efforts, standing firm whenever the Hawkettes threatened. While frustration lingered at missed chances, the performance showed plenty of positivesβ€”dominant attacking play, adaptability in new positions, and a well-earned win! πŸ‘

O&W U13 Vixens vs Nuneaton Borough Demons

Our second league game of the season saw us travel away to Nuneaton Borough Demons, and the girls put in another fantastic performance, coming away with a brilliant 5–2 win. The day brought a few challenges – with some players unavailable at kick-off and a brand-new formation introduced on the spot – but the team rose to the occasion superbly. Despite little time to adjust, they showed great adaptability and commitment, proving once again how quickly they’re learning and growing together. The playing surface wasn’t the easiest, with long grass and some uneven patches, but the girls didn’t let that affect them. Instead, they got stuck in, worked hard for each other, and played some exciting football. Navae opened the scoring with a composed finish, before Rocket doubled our lead. Sisi then stole the show with a fantastic hat trick, securing the win in style. Her all-round performance earned her the Parents’ Player of the Match award – thoroughly deserved! πŸ† This 5–2 victory means another three points on the board and plenty of confidence to take into the next game. With more time to work on the new formation in training, there’s no doubt this squad will continue to go from strength to strength.

A great performance from the girls today despite a tough 2–1 result. The first half was evenly matched – Georgia shone early on, holding the ball up brilliantly and delivering some fantastic passes out wide. Jess’s determination then set up Isla, who calmly slotted home the equaliser to bring us back into the game ⚽️. In the second half, we looked the stronger side with most of the possession and plenty of chances. Sofia and Neve bossed the midfield, breaking things up and driving play forward, with Neve especially everywhere – winning tackles and even pushing for goal herself. Unfortunately, the opposition bagged a 2nd goal. Every single girl put in a shift today πŸ’ͺ – we deserved more, but that’s football. ✨ Players of the Match: Georgia & Neve πŸ‘Final Score: Oadby & Wigston 1 – 2 Groby Juniors OadbyAndWigstonGirlsFC #GrassrootsFootball #GirlsFootball

O&W U13 Vixens v Anstey Nomads Wild Cats 07.09.25

Match Report – Opening Day Victory for U13 Vixens Wow! What a start to the season that was. I’m sure it was a great game to watch…for the neutral! πŸ˜… It was a brilliant contest between two determined teams, but our girls came out on top with a deserved 4–2 victory over Anstey Nomads. It was always going to be difficult with three players missing, especially when they all play in the same positional group. A massive thank you to the girls who shuffled around the formation and stepped into unfamiliar roles – you did the team proud. In days gone by, I could imagine players losing their composure when it looked like the game might be slipping away. But today, every single one of these fantastic girls kept their heads, dug deep, and fought back to secure the win. I’m really proud of the resilience shown, and delighted they got the result they deserved. From start to finish, I thought our girls were the better team. We spent large spells camped in the opposition half, trying to play the better football, and never settled for the draw. That determination was rewarded with three well-earned points against a side who will no doubt be challenging again this season. ⚽️πŸ’ͺ🏻 The goals came courtesy of Sisi ⚽️⚽️ and Paris ⚽️⚽️, whose attacking quality proved too much for the opposition. Finally, a special mention to Paris, who was rightly named Player of the Match πŸ† for an outstanding performance that drove the team forward at key moments. πŸ‘ Well done girls – first three points in the bag and plenty more to come!

O&W U14s v Wigston Willows Comets 07.09.25

Great performance for the most part today. We were back at the high pressure aggressive football we all got used to seeing last season. Hopefully the girls will continue to kick on now and show that level of energy every week.A few things to work on and discuss in training but over all me and Blaine couldn’t be prouder of the girls. Solid at the back with Katie showing great leadership, solid in midfield with great energy from all and aggressive and consistent upfront. It was very hard to pick the player of the match today and after me and Blaine decided it would be between Ruby and Sofia, the girls picked Fifi. Well done Fifi! Great start to the season with a 4-1 win!!!! πŸ₯‡
